Biopharma excipients
Excipients are the inactive ingredients in a medicine. In biological medicines such as antibodies and vaccines, they protect the protein during freeze-drying, storage and shipping, stop it from clumping, and help dissolve active ingredients that do not mix with water. Some are also used to protect living cells while they are grown to make these medicines.
